Monetary donations collected for this program are used to purchase perishable food items, such as meat, eggs, butter, milk, and bread, as well as non-perishable food items. Purchases are made through the Second Harvest Community Food Bank and local grocery stores. The Food Pantry is managed and run by volunteers.

Backpack Buddies

Initiated by Andrew County Ministries in 2007, the Backpack Buddies Program provides children receiving free or reduced-price school lunches with supplemental weekend, kid-friendly foods. Each child enrolled in Backpack Buddies receives healthy, easy-to-prepare breakfast, lunch, and snack food supplements for each weekend and extended holiday breaks throughout the school year. Food for the Backpack Buddies Program is purchased from the Second Harvest Community Food Bank and costs $199 per student for the entire school year. Funding for this program is obtained through private donations from Andrew County businesses, churches, residents, and charitable trust foundations, such as the Harry Duncan Foundation and the Emmet Hobbs Foundation. Backpack Buddies Program volunteers pack boxes of meals and distribute the meals to schools.
